The Ocicat is a natural breed that was created in the 1960s to look like a wild cat, such as an ocelot, while maintaining a domestic cat's loving personality. Their spotted coats are unique, as each spot is thumbprinted, making every Ocicat one of a kind.
Where It All Began
The Ocicat breed was developed in the United States in the 1960s by Virginia Daly through a breeding program involving Siamese, Abyssinian, and American Shorthair cats. The breed was recognized by TICA in 1987.

Despite their wild, ocelot-like spotted coat, the Ocicat has no wild cat blood at all — it was bred entirely from domestic Siamese, Abyssinian, and American Shorthair cats. They are also very talkative, often "chirping" to communicate with their people.
